The only thing I don't like is that I didn't have the money to get two of them! I love this sword. I wish I could now get a wakisashi (whatever) to go with it. I've bought a lot of swords from various sources and have always found myself left wanting. Finally that's not the case. I'm only giving this thing five stars because that's all there is. It should actually have seven. If you're thinking of a good sword, real sword, but don't have the funds of Bill Gates this is the one. BUY IT!

Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. Gives great leverage and adds that element of surprise with an extra long reach.

The first thing I did when i got it was a paper test, after i wiped off all the oil/wax it was coated in for storage/shipping. it cut well, then reoiled it. There was a few scuffs on the blade up near the point but they didn't really concern me, I took off the handle to see the full tang, and getting the bamboo pegs out was sort of a difficult task for the first time, they were in there tight, and getting the handle away from the tsuba was very hard because of how tight it is, (same goes for putting it back on). all in all, a very well made sword, beautifully decorated tsuba, i looked at a lot of different functional swords 200 dollars and less before I decided on this one, and I'm happy I did. even with the scuffs, I still look forward to getting a display stand and displaying this thing. There is a tiny dent on the front tsuba guard, (the piece between the tsuba and the blade that can't even be removed (at least I couldn't)) however it's so small it's hardly noticable unless the light hits it just right, so it doesn't bother me.

Another masterpiece from Shinwa, Well made with craftsmanship that is truly impressive. Solid and very durable with a razor sharp edge that holds up. Damascus living up to its reputation. The cost to value ratio is way off on this "ninja to" and is worth a great deal more. The memories from "Enter The Ninja" back in the 80s made my buying mind up.

I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. However, when it finally got here I was very impressed with the attention to detail. It is very sharp and light weight. The colors are beautiful. I have already used it to kill 7 zombies. One of which was the UPS man who had me sign for it. I didn't get a good look at him before I struck, but he appears to have turned back into a human after my fatal blow. I am currently hiding in a window well and spying on the zombies to learn their ways. When the time is right, I will strike. 5/5 would buy again!

The weapon came in a box within a box, I assume as part of the transfer from UPS to the USPS. There was no paperwork, only the manufacturers markings on the inner box. The weapon was flawless, and with a heavy coating of foundry grease on the blade.

Got it as a gift for my Birthday. It is pure awesomeness!! No its not a sharp sword but its heavy and real steal meaning it can do serious damage with mild force. Quick shipping, sharp, nice hamon. The blade is straight and the fittings are tight. Slices through everything I put in front of it and no chips or bends in the edge. Good fit in thr siaya, for the price I dont think you could get a better sword.

this is a fantastic sword. the only issue with it is the handle wrap is not the same as shown in the image (same color as all other bio hazard green weapons) its well built and would make a good collection starter for any katana lover.

Nice sword but quite sharp. My 19 year old son accidently sliced his leg for 9 stitches without even swinging the sword. Be careful and make sure you have medical insurance.

This is a top quality weapon that matches up very well with swords costing many times more. The only problem was that the tsuba is so tight that it is very difficult to remove to disassemble for a proper cleaning.

For the price I couldn't be happier with this sword. I debated spending a lot more money and getting a sword with much more pedigree. I'm very glad I decided to take a risk. There is no wobble at all in the sword. The blade is beautiful and for entertainment I went outside and pruned a few trees. The blade worked as well or better than a machete even though it's a thicker blade. If the blade did not bend and it is still very sharp. I was very impressed as I swung very hard.

Now I may be mistaken, but this looks just like the Musashi Bamboo Warrior katana. Which in that case isn't a pretty awesome bugmdget katana with real carbon steel and hamon. But it's also like only a $100 sword. Soo... Look for the authentic Musashi stamp or Smith signature on the tang.

This sword is well made and came sharp. Shipped in about a week although it was estimated for a month. It is tight in the sheath but has began to loosen up over time. I've cut through some water bottles with a clean slice, no problem.

I love this weapon. It maybe lighter than wood, but it is far more durable. I also like its lightness because it can used with speed. I plan to get a second one to have a matching pair. I have 2 Wooden Wakazashi Bokken and 1 Wooden Tanto Bokken, and all three are stored because they get chipped and start to split. I will only use Cold Steel Trainers from now on. The Cold Steel trainers don't have the distracting vibration that wood creates hitting a target. Lastly, a well placed strike with a Cold Steel trainer can be just as brutal as a Wooden Bokken strike.

The blade on this thing is incredibly sharp. The overall quality is very good, although it seems a bit blade heavy and unbalanced. I imagine if I were looking for an authentic (and perfect) samurai sword I would be spending thousands of dollars. Regardless, this is a beautiful and well made katana for the price.

Now I may be mistaken, but this looks just like the Musashi Bamboo Warrior katana. Which in that case isn't a pretty awesome bugmdget katana with real carbon steel and hamon. But it's also like only a $100 sword. Soo... Look for the authentic Musashi stamp or Smith signature on the tang.

this is a good quality sword for practicing but a fraction of the cost of a Japanese sword. Beware the blade is extremely sharp and highly recommend the maintenance kit as the sword needs to be cleaned and oiled every time you use it and at least monthly if just displayed.

These are great practice swords. I've been using them for full contact sparring for months now. The only thing I've noticed is the hand guards tend to loosen relatively easily during hard strikes. Not really an issue. After using traditional wooden bokken for years, I'm never going back. I don't know why they're so expensive all of a sudden.

Nice sword but quite sharp. My 19 year old son accidently sliced his leg for 9 stitches without even swinging the sword. Be careful and make sure you have medical insurance.

I got it from one of my friends as a gift, it's a very good quality sword, i can't believe it's only around $100. I bought similar one in Japanese town 2 years ago but that cost me $350!!! So when i saw it online i thought i should gave it a review. You really can't beat the value at this low price, good choice for a gift to someone like it much. Hope it helps!

As a new collector, i didnt know what to expect. my katana showed up ahead of schedual which was fantastic. Opened the package and i was amazed at the quality i was looking at. Actual hamon, real ray skin grip, razor sharp and gorgeous. Came with certificate of authenticity and a cotton bag. Vary strong construction! Feels great in hands and didnt wobble (tight). Can NOT get a better sword for your money!

At first it felt small in my hand. Very lightweight blade with nice long o-kissake' But the tsuba is kind of small so, this is a nice katana but somewhat feels wakizashi-ish, which i do like its just not the sword i was expecting so at first I was surprised is all. Fittings are tight blade is very nice. I think the o-kissake(Blade tip)

this is a fine weapon. It came sharp as a razor from the factory, still wrapped and oiled. The saya is wooden, no rattle and the sword will not fall out under duress. The hamon is real, not wire brushed, as other reviewers have stated. I agree with the previous poster, this is no toy. The Blade is undamaged after cutting the box it came in into slithers, and then a bleach bottle filled with water clean in half in one clean stroke. In practiced hands, this katana could make an attacker, or would be attacker, wish they hadn't crossed you in the first place. Zombies would fall in droves before the might of this blade!!!

For anyone looking for an authentic cutting sword, this is a great choice. This is the more refined version of the Hanwei Practical Katana Sword. I did some research and this rated well in many sword enthsiast forums. It comes with a tag from Hanwei that provides a serial number to document that this is a Hanwei sword. The workmanship is so beautiful for a sword of this price that I have not had the heart to cut with it yet. I may just buy another one and keep one for decoration and dedicate the other for cutting practice.

The sword is oilde not too light not too thick, its edge is not as sharp as it could be but is still battle ready, I'd suggest getting a wet stone to sharpen. The steel is a modern way of recreating Damascus steel so it is Damascus steel in a way. The sword is pretty well balanced and its only flaw is the handle isn't as pretty but with looking at it more thoroughly its very sturdy. No katana is meant for cutting tree limbs as no sword should be used as such, the metal is long so it will bend if hit against something its not meant for. Although bamboo is tougher its also hollow. Don't forget to oil it every once in a while as it is a metal that can rust. Treat ur sword with respect and proper use and it will last. It is in fact a great sword and I'm still loving it.

If you look at the question and answer section for this sword someone asked if you can cut a watermelon. Someone answered that the Damascus lines are just a decal that can be removed with chemicals. This is not true. You can see the continuation of the Damascus lines where the blade has been sharpened.

This is the first of the Musashi Katanas in my collection. I own afew made over seas from Japan, and China. And note those that come from the Mainland in the Beautiful Country of China are as deadly as they are beautiful. those whom seriously study the Katana know its history and it coming from China says alot Not CHEAP,either. For the price I don't think you can get a better Samurai sword. Normally I collect fantasy swords or medieval time swords but I do have a few katana's and this one is great. While its not my best one for the price, its of great quality. It is sharp so it should not be played with as someone can get seriously injured but that should be common knowledge when dealing with swords. And this is a real sword.

Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. Gives great leverage and adds that element of surprise with an extra long reach.

This is a good sword It is well built. The blade is heavy and powerful it also came to me razor sharp. The customer service is very good as well I had one small issue and they solved the problem right away. I will b getting another sword from them in the future.

I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. However, when it finally got here I was very impressed with the attention to detail. It is very sharp and light weight. The colors are beautiful. I have already used it to kill 7 zombies. One of which was the UPS man who had me sign for it. I didn't get a good look at him before I struck, but he appears to have turned back into a human after my fatal blow. I am currently hiding in a window well and spying on the zombies to learn their ways. When the time is right, I will strike. 5/5 would buy again!

I own many swords and this is one of my top. This is not the cheap crap you get on Budk and similar sites, yet relatively inexpensive. I could write a long list of pro's, but I'll make it simple. beautiful sword. was NOT customized as per my request(they could have just said no, i still would have bought it), but whatever, i'll just buy more swords(probably not from this seller, tho). it is still a fine addition to my collection. on par with other swords in this price range, but barely. hamon appears to be real, as far as i can tell. beautiful, shiny finish, almost flawless. unique saya and tsuba. i got the sword in the pics and i am happy with it. it makes a LOUD chopping noise, which is very cool, but i think i would have preferred it without bo-hi, as i am more interested in devastating damage than sounding cool. i do not think this one will be getting much use in the bamboo grove.

I have many Katanas and this one is my absolute favorite of all in this price ranage; and note it is a great value and should cost far more. Everything is real and it is truly combat ready. I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. However, when it finally got here I was very impressed with the attention to detail. It is very sharp and light weight. The colors are beautiful. I have already used it to kill 7 zombies. One of which was the UPS man who had me sign for it. I didn't get a good look at him before I struck, but he appears to have turned back into a human after my fatal blow. I am currently hiding in a window well and spying on the zombies to learn their ways. When the time is right, I will strike. 5/5 would buy again!

It may be a replica but it's a nice one and ranks higher than other swords I've bought. Decent edge. The ronin-02 has the best edge of mine for the three but I like my collection to have different looking swords or at least saya/tsukas so this was necessary to add to the collection.

The sword is relatively well balanced, ever so slightly tip heavy but overall the Katana feels comfortable in my hand and the weight doesn't throw me off. I had some slight difficulty removing the mekugi closest the tsuba but other than that the Katana came apart cleanly for inspection and cleaning.

Full tang Authentic everything including beautiful hamon! I would recommend this blade to anyone looking for a cheap but well made and truly battle ready. I have put this blade through hell and back and it still looks amazing. However I have polished and sharpened along the way I have had this blade for about a year now and it is my favorite. This blade could match just about anything you see a warrior class cold steel katana do. the only thing better than this blade is one that has been deferentially hardened for authenticity but as durability is concerned for most people mono steel is fine, when made of high carbon steel.

It's a sturdy sword. I was planning on buying the nodachi because it's heavier, but this one's weight is enough to swing it with one hand. It came as advertised, and the blade was covered with grease (is this the word?) wich is nice so it won't rust.

This sword is tough! Because the material it is made out of is polypropylene instead of traditional wood, it is a lot more flexible when it comes into impact with something solid. This means there is a less likely hood of chipping or shattering after many uses. Do not let that fool you; however, because if you were to swing this at something, it will still do a lot of damage because while Polypropylene is "flexible," it is still very tough.

Excellent training value for your $$. I own several of these. They are basically unbreakable, unlike oak or kamagong wood bokken, of which I have broken many. These polypro bokken are not as rigid as wood, so be aware of that. Also you'll want to put tape on the grip area, the polypro gets slippery when you're training and your hands are sweaty.

Blade as far as I can tell is a good quality-more practical than fancy. The sheath fits well. not the best quality but it does the job. the hsndgusrd is pretty plain,and the only thing that bothered me is the pommel feels like plastic although it is quite well attached.

If you look at the question and answer section for this sword someone asked if you can cut a watermelon. Someone answered that the Damascus lines are just a decal that can be removed with chemicals. This is not true. You can see the continuation of the Damascus lines where the blade has been sharpened.

Not going to lie I expect this to be a complete s*** of a blade. Meaning like the cheap ones you get, were the blade rattles, you can remove everything with a single bolt, welded together on some little piece of metal, duller than a butter knife, rusty, easily bend, etc. This has been everything that but that, I was SHOCKED! Put together properly, not a single rattle sound, blade fit into the sheath, has a smooth unsheathing to it as well. Taking it apart was a little tough to how tightly the handle was fitted, which is good.The blade held up well against my friend's $1k Bungei sword, yes I compared a cheap Amazon sword to the glory of Bungei scream at me all you want.

If you ever want to buy a starter sword for a decent price this would absolutely be the best choice. The packaging was great with no damage in site and it came much faster then anticipated. At first it felt small in my hand. this is a fine weapon. It came sharp as a razor from the factory, still wrapped and oiled. The saya is wooden, no rattle and the sword will not fall out under duress. The hamon is real, not wire brushed, as other reviewers have stated. I agree with the previous poster, this is no toy. The Blade is undamaged after cutting the box it came in into slithers, and then a bleach bottle filled with water clean in half in one clean stroke. In practiced hands, this katana could make an attacker, or would be attacker, wish they hadn't crossed you in the first place. Zombies would fall in droves before the might of this blade!!!

Another masterpiece from Shinwa, Well made with craftsmanship that is truly impressive. Solid and very durable with a razor sharp edge that holds up. Damascus living up to its reputation. This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

This sword is tough! Because the material it is made out of is polypropylene instead of traditional wood, it is a lot more flexible when it comes into impact with something solid. This means there is a less likely hood of chipping or shattering after many uses. Do not let that fool you; however, because if you were to swing this at something, it will still do a lot of damage because while Polypropylene is "flexible," it is still very tough.

I got it from one of my friends as a gift, it's a very good quality sword, i can't believe it's only around $100. I bought similar one in Japanese town 2 years ago but that cost me $350!!! So when i saw it online i thought i should gave it a review. You really can't beat the value at this low price, good choice for a gift to someone like it much. Hope it helps!

The sword is everything I expected it to be. It came sharp but I sharpened it to what it should be and just tapping the blade causes a good gash. I dropped a steak on it and it cut right through it like a knife through butter after I sharpened it. But just using it out of the box I was able to cut through a rolled up carpet. So all in all it is an excellent blade.

This is a good sword It is well built. The blade is heavy and powerful it also came to me razor sharp. The customer service is very good as well I had one small issue and they solved the problem right away. I will b getting another sword from them in the future.

I choose this katana because it is a great value for the amount of quality you get. The design is very nice and the blade is very sharp. At this time I have it displayed in my living room and it looks great! I highly recommend this Katana especially for anyone with a tight budget.
