I own many swords and this is one of my top. This is not the cheap crap you get on Budk and similar sites, yet relatively inexpensive. I could write a long list of pro's, but I'll make it simple. sword is as advertised. the tsuba,s gold trim is a bit rough and the blade isn't as sharp as I would expect. otherwise it's really a bang for the buck sword.

First off pictures don't do this sword justice. This is a beautiful Katana. The blade is super sharp and nothing on the sword looks or feels cheap. It arrived 4 days earlier than expected. Over all I think it's a good buy for the price

At first it felt small in my hand. Very lightweight blade with nice long o-kissake' But the tsuba is kind of small so, this is a nice katana but somewhat feels wakizashi-ish, which i do like its just not the sword i was expecting so at first I was surprised is all. Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. Gives great leverage and adds that element of surprise with an extra long reach.

This sword is absolutely beautiful. Great quality, good weight and balance. My only issue with the sword is the claw and the wrapping that's tied to it. The wrapping is a really cheap looking material that appears worn on the edges. Also unlike most samural swords it's not beautifully tied/wrapped around the sword. Aside from that I really like the sword. Oh and one more thing, the picture used to show the sword is accurate so don't expect it to be white as it is in the movie. However in my opinion, the color of this sword/sheath is better than that of the movie.

I love this weapon. It maybe lighter than wood, but it is far more durable. I also like its lightness because it can used with speed. I plan to get a second one to have a matching pair. I have 2 Wooden Wakazashi Bokken and 1 Wooden Tanto Bokken, and all three are stored because they get chipped and start to split. I will only use Cold Steel Trainers from now on. The Cold Steel trainers don't have the distracting vibration that wood creates hitting a target. Lastly, a well placed strike with a Cold Steel trainer can be just as brutal as a Wooden Bokken strike.

this is a good quality sword for practicing but a fraction of the cost of a Japanese sword. Beware the blade is extremely sharp and highly recommend the maintenance kit as the sword needs to be cleaned and oiled every time you use it and at least monthly if just displayed.

This is an awesome weapon. Yes, weapon. This is not a toy or a show piece. This Katana came very sharp and battle ready. A few passes in my ceramic sharpener and it is razor sharp. The details, from the braided silk over sting ray skin hilt to the carbon steel blade are impressive. And I paid about half the price listed on the "Cold Steel" site. Bottom line... If you want a heavy sword that is a SWORD you can't beat this blade.

This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

However, if you plan on doing some sword battle with a couple of Samurai...you will definitely need either a better sword, or a 30 yard head start. But do not believe reviews that criticize this sword and it's sharpness or capabilities to do harm. It's sharp enough and will give even a novice an opportunity to train with something decent. If you want more "authenticity", you're going to have to reach into your wallet and pay a heck of a lot more.

Delivery was a bit quicker than expected. Sword is fairly sharp. Solid brass pommel can be unscrewed. Mine came without any looseness or rattles. Beautiful blade. You can see very faint texture of the folding pattern when viewing blade from the side. Makes a nice "ping" when you flip the blade with your finger.

Wasn't expecting much at this price point but the katana delivered was very nice, pommel, tsuba, wrapping all very tight,the blade looked gorgeous as well as functional,way more sword than I need at my skill level (which is zero). Not going to lie I expect this to be a complete s*** of a blade. Meaning like the cheap ones you get, were the blade rattles, you can remove everything with a single bolt, welded together on some little piece of metal, duller than a butter knife, rusty, easily bend, etc. This has been everything that but that, I was SHOCKED! Put together properly, not a single rattle sound, blade fit into the sheath, has a smooth unsheathing to it as well. Taking it apart was a little tough to how tightly the handle was fitted, which is good.The blade held up well against my friend's $1k Bungei sword, yes I compared a cheap Amazon sword to the glory of Bungei scream at me all you want.

Super light weight ,pretty sharp blade. Beautiful sword with a reasonable price. Glad I went with the red blade, though it seems more brown then red.All in all it is actually better then expected. It is sharp but I wish it would have been extra sharp.

I love this sword! The coloring is beautiful and it came oiled with a plastic covering to protect the blade during shipping. I would have given it a full five stars, but the sheathe does not actually fit the blade, so the Katana knocks against the wood when it's sheathed, unlike the Mashiro that I bought earlier. Still a beautiful and sharp sword, just disappointed in the ill fit.

Thesaurus beautiful very sharp only complaint as in the picture it shows a dark place with the silver tip the entire blade is silver I think they lied at it that way to show the folding marks besides that a great Buy

This is perfect. Its made with nice strong damascus steel. They didn't over do it on the oil they put on the blade its not to heavy, and its well balanced. Its a high quality sword for an affordable price.

As a new collector, i didnt know what to expect. my katana showed up ahead of schedual which was fantastic. Opened the package and i was amazed at the quality i was looking at. Actual hamon, real ray skin grip, razor sharp and gorgeous. Came with certificate of authenticity and a cotton bag. Vary strong construction! Feels great in hands and didnt wobble (tight). Nice sword but quite sharp. My 19 year old son accidently sliced his leg for 9 stitches without even swinging the sword. Be careful and make sure you have medical insurance.

Great price for a high quality product served up with solid customer service . I ordered the katana and the next day contacted Ryan through Amazon wondering if it would be possible to customize a few parts . It took a few days for a reply but they were very courteous and eager to please . Not only would they substitute the requested parts but did so with no extra charges and even e-mailed photos for approval before shipping . It came well packaged and in perfect shape . The katana is absolutely gorgeous ! Beautiful hamon from the clay tempering on the folded high carbon polished blade . I usualy love cold steel knives. This katana arrived a bit sub standard. There are rust spots about 2 inches long on the face of the blade. Also on the spine at about the center point on the blade there is a 3 inch rust spot. Most of the length of the blade was dull except for the tip. It appears as if the katana had been stored for a very long time or handled much before it was sold to me. I will however keep it and attempt to buff out the rust then sharpen.

Had a very small rust spot. Not a big deal. It came off with 1,000 grit. Almost with the 3,000 grit Japanese Whetstone. Very happy for the price. $300.00 for a $600.00 Katana. Very sturdy, and thick. Got some weight to it as well. Girls would have a hard time if they are not strong enough. Especially if they try and use it. I give it 4.7 out of 5 stars. Must own, if you can.

Top heavy, but I tell you if anybody comes into your house Late at night and, you break that sword out he'll be running out there in two seconds. You have to keep it oiled when storing it For long periods of time or it will rust.

This is a sturdy katana, thicker than most blades used for tatami cutting. It is alo heavier and takes some practice to get used to, but when you are used to it, it slices through tatami mats like it is air! Very happy with it, so far no bend in it, while thinner blade katanas in use need work when hitting tatami the wrong way.

I purchased this along with several other swords. Bottomline: you can really hurt someone or yourself with this weapon. However, if you plan on doing some sword battle with a couple of Samurai...you will definitely need either a better sword, or a 30 yard head start. But do not believe reviews that criticize this sword and it's sharpness or capabilities to do harm. It's sharp enough and will give even a novice an opportunity to train with something decent. If you want more "authenticity", you're going to have to reach into your wallet and pay a heck of a lot more.

Not going to lie I expect this to be a complete s*** of a blade. Meaning like the cheap ones you get, were the blade rattles, you can remove everything with a single bolt, welded together on some little piece of metal, duller than a butter knife, rusty, easily bend, etc. This has been everything that but that, I was SHOCKED! Put together properly, not a single rattle sound, blade fit into the sheath, has a smooth unsheathing to it as well. Taking it apart was a little tough to how tightly the handle was fitted, which is good.The blade held up well against my friend's $1k Bungei sword, yes I compared a cheap Amazon sword to the glory of Bungei scream at me all you want.

Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. Gives great leverage and adds that element of surprise with an extra long reach.

I received my Katana about an hour ago. I couldn't be more pleased. It is beautiful! It came well packaged and in perfect condition. It exceeded my every expectation. I have read in reviews of other sword makers how the blade arrived scratched and/or the parts of the Katana were loose. Not with this one! It is a solid weapon. And I do mean weapon. I test the sharpness of my knives by pushing them through thin paper, not slicing, pushing. If they go through the paper without drag, they are sharp. My Katana went through the paper like it wasn't there right out of the box. The fabricators were very confident that I would be happy with their Katana before I received it. Now I know why. I'm not an expert on Katanas, but I have done a lot of reading. I believe the steel was really folded and the Hamon is real. The blade came wrapped coated in oil and wrapped in plastic to protect the Saya from the oil. Even the bag, though not the one pictured, is beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone and I am considering buying another.

Swordaxe was great! We got the shipment which came with oil for the sword, well due to packaging it leaked and there was no more oil to clean the weapon. I have a black belt in kenjutsu (Kuki Shinden-Ryu Happo Bikenjutsu) and this is one of my favorite swords. Even though it was not manufactured in a traditional way, it is proof that modern manufacturing techniques can mass produce swords that any ancient samurai would have envied. It handles well, and cuts well. It's razor sharp and nearly indestructible.

The sword arrived significantly before the expected delivery date and was in perfect condition. Unpacked, the sword is contained in a decorative cloth bag with a gold cord with tassels. The wooden sheath is high gloss black with some decorative accents and very nice in appearance and quality. The Katana itself to me seems to be very well made with a sharp edge. Taking off the protective plastic sleeve and removing the factory oil protectant reveals a beautiful dark reddish/brown hue. I am extremely pleased with the Katana and sure my son will be thrilled. 100% satisfied.

I choose this katana because it is a great value for the amount of quality you get. The design is very nice and the blade is very sharp. At this time I have it displayed in my living room and it looks great! I highly recommend this Katana especially for anyone with a tight budget.

I love it! very good quality. Sturdy and solid made. The handle has a good grip. The blade is not razor sharp but you can use an wet stone. Definitively for this price is a lucky purchase.

I own many swords and this is one of my top. This is not the cheap crap you get on Budk and similar sites, yet relatively inexpensive. I could write a long list of pro's, but I'll make it simple. You will not be disappointed. I was so impressed that I've already ordered the 1060 version of this sword.
